Voice Talent. Writer. Educator. Nerd.

About this Site. Growing up, I longed for more LGBTQIA+ role models in television, movies, and literature. Vito Russo’s Celluloid Closet (book published in 1981; Epstein & Freidman film released in 1995) showed my generation that we could be buffoons, sidekicks, mincing effeminates, and villains. The two prevailing “gay narratives” of the 1990s were either painful coming-out stories in largely homophobic households (which I survived doing), and Death by AIDS. Neither of these worked for me.

Though much has changed since those days, as long as our hero default is set to straight white male, not enough has been done. So my goal with this site is twofold:

  • I want to add more LGBTQIA+ affirming characters to literature by sharing my own fiction and other creative works.
  • I want to celebrate the works of others who have contributed LGBTQIA+ characters to literature.

About my writing. I mostly write genre fiction and poetry: science fiction, fantasy, horror, and superhero stories, often with LGBTQIA+ characters. I am influenced by a lot of writers, but especially enjoy the prose of Ursula K. LeGuin, Neil Gaiman, and Ray Bradbury.

About me. I’m the nerd who never left school. I have several degrees and a career in higher education. As a kid, I used to read the Encyclopedia Britannica for fun. Well, who am I kidding? I read everything I could. Both of my parents, one American, one asian, encouraged it. My husband and I live in New England with our plants.
